PanIIT Alumni India Elects Dr Amitabh Ranjan as Vice Chairman and Rajeev Singh as General Secretary for 2026–28 Term
PanIIT Alumni India has elected Dr Amitabh Ranjan as Vice Chairman and Rajeev Singh as General Secretary for the 2026–28 term. The newly strengthened Executive Council, led by Chairman Prabhat Kumar, aims to enhance alumni collaboration, thought leadership, innovation, public policy engagement, and nation-building through its global network of more than five lakh IIT alumni.
The newly elected office bearers join Chairman Prabhat Kumar, IRS, and Treasurer Ashish Kela, CFA, on the Executive Council, which represents a global community of more than five lakh IIT alumni. The organisation has active chapters across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Korea, Singapore, and Australia, reflecting its growing international presence.
Dr Amitabh Ranjan currently serves as Registrar at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, one of India's premier institutions dedicated to the training and capacity-building of civil servants. A graduate in petroleum engineering, he has previously held leadership positions in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure, he was widely credited with leading the digitisation of the state's Transport Department through the "Vahan" vehicle registration platform and the "Sarathi" driving licence platform, both of which are now implemented across the country. Within the PanIIT ecosystem, Dr Ranjan has remained an active contributor, frequently moderating and addressing flagship PanIIT summits on subjects including public governance and India's knowledge traditions. He also brings extensive interest and expertise in the fields of energy, renewable energy, and climate.
Rajeev Singh has been an active member of PanIIT Alumni India's core leadership team for several years. He has played a significant role in organising several of the organisation's flagship initiatives, major events, and community engagement programmes. As General Secretary, he assumes office at a time when PanIIT Alumni India continues to strengthen its presence across India's technology, entrepreneurship, and public policy landscape.
Welcoming the newly elected office bearers, Chairman Prabhat Kumar said that Dr Amitabh Ranjan and Rajeev Singh bring years of dedicated engagement with the PanIIT movement. He stated that their leadership would further strengthen alumni collaboration, expand thought leadership, and enhance the organisation's contribution to nation-building. He also expressed confidence in their continued contribution to the organisation's future initiatives.
Speaking after his election, Dr Amitabh Ranjan described the appointment as a privilege and said it was an honour to serve an organisation that has consistently channelled the talent of the IIT community towards public welfare. He said he looked forward to working closely with the Executive Council to deepen PanIIT's engagement with public policy, governance, and the broader national development agenda.
Rajeev Singh said PanIIT has always been driven by the collective commitment of its volunteers and alumni. As General Secretary, he stated that his priority would be to further strengthen this ecosystem while ensuring that the organisation's chapters, initiatives, and members remain closely connected in pursuit of common goals.
PanIIT Alumni India serves as the umbrella organisation for alumni from all IITs, promoting collaboration, thought leadership, and national service through a unified and extensive network. Over the years, the organisation has significantly expanded its reach by organising flagship summits and initiatives focused on technology, entrepreneurship, public policy, and education. With the newly strengthened Executive Council, PanIIT Alumni India is expected to build on this momentum by fostering deeper alumni engagement, promoting innovation-led partnerships, and advancing initiatives that contribute meaningfully to society and national development.
